Project Lead the Way Ohio Team Visits Redstone Arsenal

Recently, a team of Ohio PLTW teachers, Executive Council members and post-secondary partners, along with Pat Leaveck from PLTW National, had the opportunity to visit the Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama, at the invitation of the U.S. Army.  The purpose of the visit was to experience firsthand some of the technology employed by the U.S. Army to support the troop efforts and the use of technology in training Army personnel.  This technology is adaptable in various ways that may allow the Army to collaborate with PLTW Ohio to offer extended teacher and student learning experiences.

Pictured here (left to right) are Pat Leaveck of PLTW National, and Autum Barry, Biomedical Science Instructor from Logan Hocking HS,  in a helicopter training simulator.

Redstone Arsenal is the center of the U.S. Army missile and helicopter programs and house the Software Engineering Directorate responsible for the development of software solutions for both equipment and training purposes.
The teacher team also had the opportunity to make a brief stop at the NASA Space Camp and Museum.
