Ohio Middle School Recognition Process
In the interest of recognizing middle schools for excellence and honoring the Gateway to Technology programs which achieve it, middle schools in the PLTW Ohio network will be eligible for recognition as exemplary in Ohio based on the following criteria:
- The school is offering 3 or more modules from the PLTW Gateway to Technology program.
- The school has been offering Gateway to Technology for two or more years
- The middle school program is linked to a high school PLTW program to facilitate smooth transition of students in the STEM pathway
- The middle school contributes data to the national PLTW data collection systme and the PLTW Ohio data collection system
To be recognized, schools must fill out the Middle School Standard of Excellence Program Application form on the PLTW National website complete the process outlined, and send or email it to the Ohio State Affiliate. A site visit with the administration, GTT teacher, counselor and two or more students will be scheduled, and if the school is approved, a Certificate of Recognition will be issued by Ohio PLTW and a recommendation for Recognition will be forwarded to National PLTW. A fee of $300 will be charged for the Ohio Recognition Site Visit and is payable to the PLTW Ohio State Affiliate at Sinclair Community College. |
